Colleen C.
Private tutor in Peabody, MA
Education
I am currently a Social Worker for the State. I work with familes, individuals and single parents with children. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Sociology from Salem State University. I graduated with 3.4 GPA.
Experience
Worked as a Elementary School Substitute teacher for 2 years, 6 months consistant in 1st grade. Passing scores on the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure for Foundations of Reading and Communication and Literacy. Pre-Practicum in the 2nd grade for a semester, teaching 3 days a week with assigned 2nd grade teacher at a Lynn elementary school. The other two days were spend taking courses to learn how to teach elementary school level subjects including math, history, science and language arts. I went to school to be in a rewarding career helping children. I believe that tutoring comes with the same outcome, seeing a child strive and become successful is extremely fullfilling. Throughout college I was a nanny for a 5 year old girl and a 7 year old boy. I watched them grow as students, siblings and individuals. It was one of my favorite jobs I have ever had. I have always been really good at communicating and being around children, at least thats what im told. I love making learning fun, thinking of different projects that may spark a childs interest depending on what they are interested in at that moment. I think the best part of working with children is helping them become the person they want to be and helping them learn around the way having as much fun as possible.
